KIMPTON PITTMAN HOTEL
CRITIQUE MY STAY RATING: 9/10
AVG. NIGHTLY RATE: $250
The Kimpton Pittman Hotel is housed in an impressive Beaux Arts structure constructed in the early 1900s, formerly serving as the Knights of Pythias Temple. While you do get some of the feel of the historic building, the hotel was excellently redone and has a modern, high-end-feeling interior. We spent four nights at the hotel and really enjoyed the experience, despite a lack of benefits for IHG Platinum members.
LOCATION
9.5/10
The Deep Ellum district of Dallas is a very hipster-feeling, vibrant area that is full of vintage shops, cafes, restaurants, and small stores. It is a very walkable area that is conveniently located to many of Dallas’s main attractions including the Dallas Museum of Art and the Nasher Sculpture Center, which are both about a twenty minute walk. In addition to the shops and eateries,, Deep Ellum is also renowned for its dynamic nightlife scene, with many bars, clubs, and live music venues, including some lively establishments right near the hotel that can get a bit loud and crowded on weekend evenings. For those looking to get a good taste of Dallas, the Kimpton Pittman is a great place to base yourself. The hotel is about a twenty five minute drive from DFW airport.
AMENITIES
8/10
GYM - 8/10
The gym at Kimpton Pittman Hotel is modern and offers a basic range of equipment for guests to enjoy a simple workout or cardio session. The gym has one Precor Training System for strength exercises as well as a few treadmills and Peloton bikes for cardio workouts. There are also free weights and a bench. The air conditioned gym is not spacious, but the windows do let in plenty of natural light.
SPA
There is no spa at this hotel.
POOL - 9/10
The heated outdoor pool is a great amenity, especially when you factor in the nice pool furniture and cabanas that line the surrounding area. It’s a great space to relax in and to enjoy a warm day but the one issue, as you may be able to tell from our picture, is that the building casts a shadow that does affect both the temperature and your ability to soak in the sun at certain times if all of the chairs in the sun are taken. The pool operates from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
OTHER
The Kimpton Pittman offers a range of other amenities such as morning coffee and tea service, loaner bikes, yoga mats in every room, solid WiFi, a Kimpton Kids Program, and pet amenities.
ROOM
9/10
We booked an Essential King Room, the hotel’s standard room. Our room was adorned with chic, contemporary furniture and decor, and everything was in great condition. The king-sized bed was incredibly comfortable and the room also came with a small circular table accompanied by two chairs, and a flat-screen TV. The bathroom was equally impressive, featuring a roomy shower and great tile work. All in all, the room was incredibly comfortable and had everything we needed for a pleasant stay. For a standard room at a nice, but not incredibly expensive property, it was a win.
BREAKFAST
8/10
The Kimpton Hotel serves breakfast at its on-site restaurant, Elm and Good. To start the day, you can choose a range of options that include fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries, bread, omelets, and coffee or tea. There were a number of healthy options available but prices were not cheap and breakfast wasn’t included in our room rate, so most days we got breakfast at the Merit Coffee shop nearby.

VERDICT
The Kimpton Pittman is a great hotel to book in Dallas. It’s not perfect, and it certainly could do better with providing benefits to IHG rewards members, but overall it offers a really enjoyable place to stay, especially since the rooms themselves and the surrounding neighborhood are a joy to be in.
